The president of “Russian Fitness Group”, president of fitness clubs chains World Class and “FizKult” - Olga Sloutsker
She was born on 14th January, 1965 in Leningrad. When she was 11 her parents took Olga to a fencing school and they believed that doing sports is just essential for bringing up a strong-willed and determined child.
In 1987 Olga Sloutsker finished the Academy of Psychical Culture named after P.F. Lesgaft and for 12 years she played for the Leningrad city team. Due to her excellent physical fitness, sporting personality and determination Olga Sloutsker built a brilliant career and became a master of sports in fencing.
In the early 1990s Olga Sloutsker got married and left big sport arena. Like any other sport people after some time she started feeling a lack of sport activity - so she discovered the world of fitness. However there was no fitness industry in Russia. Love for sports and great desire of self-fulfillment were the main drivers why Olga Sloutsker set up a private fitness club which met all the European standards.
In 1993, in Moscow, at Zhitnaya street, Olga Sloutsker opened her first fitness club of the highest level named World Class. The media wrote about the breakthrough in the Russian sport service market where World Class was the first one who introduced new international business standards and encouraged the Russian people to follow the healthy life style.
At the very start Olga Sloutsker took the role of an investor and World Class Sweden did the management. However in 1996 the right for World Class trade mark was bought out and Olga Sloutsker headed the company. By that time she had got a diploma with the Management School of the State Academy and perfect understanding of the fitness industry based on her participation in fitness conventions in the USA.
Olga Sloutsker is the president of the largest Russian fitness clubs chain - World Class which has been for the last 8 years one of the top 25 world fitness clubs. 34 World Class clubs (13 of them are franchised) are operating in Moscow and in the biggest Russian and CIS cities.
Professional success of Olga Sloutsker was often marked in social and political editions and by Russian and foreign expert associations as well. In 2000 Olga Sloutsker was the nominee for the “Person of the Year” organized by “Komsomolskaya Pravda” newspaper and in 2001 was nominated as “Person of the Year” in the area of “Contribution to the Russian industry development”. She happened to be the first Russian lady whose face you could see in the leading world professional sport magazines such as Club Business International (the USA) and Health Club Management (the UK). Olga managed to combine her great business skills and mothering duties (Olga Sloutsker has two children) and be a successful woman. In 2005 Olga Sloutsker was awarded with “Astra” in the area of fashion and style in the nomination - “Business style”.
“Fitness - is my only business” says Olga Sloutsker “and it is a great challenge for me to be a part of the world fitness industry history”. After setting herself such an ambitious goal Olga Sloutsker set up another fitness club chain named “Fizkult” in 2006 which was developed as a business format chain. Currently there are 11 Fizkult clubs (3 of them are franchised ones) in 5 Russian cities. Olga Sloutsker needed just one year so that the RBC rating recognized the new project to be the best in its market segment.
In 2006 Olga Sloutsker becomes a member of the International Brand Academy due to creating a successful Russian brand name and for her contribution to improving the living standards. In September 2006 Olga Sloutsker got the Award as a “2006 European Operator of the year” by IHRSA.
In 2007 January, Olga Sloutsker was elected as the President of the Fitness and Aerobics Association of Russia and became a member of the FISAF Executive Committee.
In 2007 fitness corporation “Russian Fitness Group”, Olga Sloutsker is a president of it, continued to consolidate its assets and merged World Class premium fitness club chain and Fizkult club chain featuring the business format and fitness chains Reebok and MaxiSport which are now operating under World Class and Fizkult brands.
In 2008 Olga Sloutsker was on the list of “the top 1000 professional managers of Russia” according to the Association of managers and the publishing house “Kommersant” (the second position in “Service” category of Top managers rating).
In 2009 “Finance” magazine placed Olga Sloutsker on the 21st position in the rating of 50 most influential business ladies.
A big part of her time Olga Sloutsker devotes to social activities. She is an organizer of the International Festival of Physical Culture and Sports (now called Russian Fitness Festival) and the International competitions in fitness aerobics. These events which get together thousands of amateurs and fitness professionals help to promote healthy life style and develop physical culture on a greater scale in Russia, CIS countries and Baltic region. For her charity support Olga Sloutsker was awarded with the an order of the Russian Orthodox Church of Saint Apostle Grand Duchess Olga of third degree.
